I never thought I would say that. Now it was only a Sprint – 200 meter swim, 10 mile bike and 2.5 mile jog, but I did it. Of course I had a little help from my friends. Mark and Amber have been training with Brent and I for a few years. We started doing monthly 5k races in 2006. Then in 2007 we were going to do 10k races monthly. Well 10k is 6.2 miles and too hard. So we started to mix it up and add biking and swimming. Brent and Mark have done Sprints on their own, and an Olympic (3x’s a Sprint) with Professor Alfonso and Edu from Spain. Brent, Mark and Amber did a Sprint together last year as well. So I have officially joined the club.
How did we do? Well we all finished and had enough strength to drink Bloody Marys and Loaded Hot Chocolates. We all came in last in our age groups, we all were only minutes behind the person in front of us – but we all had a blast. Artic Blast!!! Did I happen to mention that it was 41F when the race started. We were so cold that our feet were frozen and it was painful to run.
